Allen Collins Band was a spin off of the Rossington Collins Band. It exisited through 1983-84 and was formed shortly after the dissolution of RCB

Allen Collins named the band Horsepower originally but executives at MCA wanted the name to make the band stand out so it was called "The Allen Collins Band".

Most members from RCB carried over to ACB except Gary Rossington and Dale Krantz who had just married and wanted to drop out of the music buissness to raise a family.
